Greetings. Re: Windows 7

I have Yahoo for a home page and like read the Sports articles. I take part in the commentary and when I type a comment, there is a long delay between when I hit a key and it appears on the screen. Sometimes I can type numberous letters and then one or two will appear after a long delay and the others don't. Sometimes too, there is a stacato effect between typing and appearance. Also I play on-line games via the Gamesville website and it can start off smooth and soon, things become herky-jerky and very very slow and sometimes freeze. Could the two be related to a common cause? Thank You.

It would be nice to see what the down and up are for you connection.

Please go to speedtest.net and run a broadband test.  Tell us the results.

Speed Test Results:   I did both the Cox (our internet provider) and OOKLA  tests. I did at least 10 tests in a row one fright after another on both sites with the following results. The OOKLA  test  Ping ranged from: 42 to 50 ms   Download: from .79 to 1.09  Upload  from .34 to 44.  Cox test:   Ping from 28 to 58 ms   Download   from 1.02 to 1.10 mbps  Upload from .32 to .40 mbps. The Cox test was the most consistent while the OOKLA was more erratic. On both, the movement of the indicators were not smooth but erratic in movement which, more or less, represented the erratic movements I get on my computer. Too, the OOKLA showed more erratic movements than Cox. I  believe if can find the cause of those erratic movements, I will solve the problems that I have with my computer. Thank You.

We have two units hard wired to a D-Link wireless router which runs off of a Cisco DPQ 3212 Modem.

Wired, wireless or laptop keyboard?

The Internet is so big, so powerful and pointless that for some people it is a complete substitute for life.

Both keyboards and the mouse are hard wired to the computers. The router is for the benefit of those in the house who have laptops which are usually used sparingly.
