I scan my laptop with Avast Antivirus (Free) every day, and last night (18 Sept), it detected three threats. It asked to reboot to scan all files, and I left it all night on a black screen with it scanning my files.
As of this morning, I can use my computer fully again, and the three rootkit files are in the "Virus Chest". All three are Win64:Rootkit-gen [Rtk], and their names are:
Basically, now that they are in there, what do I do? I also have MalwareBytes (Free) and SUPERAntiSpyware (Free), and after scanning, they did not find anything. I use my computer for work and so I really would love for it to be nice and clean.
I haven't experienced any slowness or any other problems as of this time. EDIT: No general slowness, but now it takes a very long time to open the sign-in screen when I wake it from sleep mode. The screensaver with the time pops up, but when I click it away, it remains on a blank color screen for several minutes before finally taking me to my "pin" so I can access the desktop.
I followed the directions in the Preparation Guide for this forum, and backed up my data and checked other topics, but unfortunately, I cannot download DDS. When I try to run it, it says "DDS cannot run in compatibility mode" and closes itself. As such, I cannot post any logs.
Thank you to anyone who can help.
