I have a Dell Dimension 4700 with a Dell-installed TSST ts-h492b CD/DVD writer. I have tried both Sonic RecordNow! and Nero, no luck. Sometimes I get a message saying my system won't write DVD, sometimes I get a message that it can't read the DVD, most of the time I can see it allowing me to select a CD to burn to, but never gives me the option of selecting DVD. Nero also shows 'burn successful', but nothing is saved onto the DVD. I'm using Memorex DVD-R (16x). I've looked up the specs on my ts-h492b, it looks like I'm ok there. System is 1 year old.
yikes! thanks, I've spent 2 full days researching and no luck to figure this out. Rookie!

Hi TBHoll.

I've looked up the specs on my ts-h492b, it looks like I'm ok there.

Might want to look again.
DVD portion of your drive is read only, not a dvd burner.
