Does anyone else get extra spaces when using the Quote button in a reply? I'm on Windows 8.1 using Google Chrome. Every time I click the Quote button to copy/paste a quote, there is always extra spacing added to the beginning of the quote. It doesn't happen when I'm creating a new topic, just when I'm replying. Here is an example:

[quote]

[color=#282828][font=helvetica, arial, sans-serif]On Windows 8 you can use the built-in File History utility to back up files. Here is a Microsoft article that explains the utility and how to set it up: [/font][/color][url=http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/magazine/dn448546.aspx]http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/magazine/dn448546.aspx[/url][color=#282828][font=helvetica, arial, sans-serif] [/font][/color][size=4][background=#ffffff] [/size][/background][/quote]

Also, I noticed that it adds the color/font tags when I copy/paste from another post. Plus a random size and background tag at the very end.

On Internet Explorer, it only adds one extra space, and doesn't have any of the extra tags above. So it must just be a Chrome issue.

Either way, I will probably just start manually typing the quote tags instead of using the button, as it's rather annoying having to go back and edit out all the spaces from each quote every time I reply...

Are you using the CKE/RTE Editor when posting? Meaning that the icons are enabled/highlighted? If so thats the reason that you get the extra spaces and massive color, font tags inserted. The editor is the bane of many annoying posting/formatting issues. I don't use the editor personally, never have, and hand type all my BBCode tags. To toggle the editor off, in the upper left corner is an icon that looks like a light switch. Toggle that icon and it will enable/disable the editor.

Yes I have been using the editor, I wanted to check if anyone else had the same issue. I probably will just switch to hand typing BB code, it's faster than going back and fixing all my quotes.

The RTE sucks in IPB. For better control the bbcode editor is much easier in my opinion.

I also noticed that if I just hand write BB code without "flipping the switch" to the "code" mode, the forum will mess it up for me after I post it. So now I'm handwriting BB code in the Notepad-esque "code editor" mode. Luckily I'm no stranger to Notepad!
