I have a MSI GS Series laptop running 64-bit Windows 8.

Whenever, I power-up the log-in splash screen shows followed by a black screen.  The hard drive lights

still blink and you can hear the drive operating.

I do not know what has happened.  Is there a way I can use the windows 8 startup disk to fix?

Please help.

Try hitting F8 at startup and see if you can get to safe mode. If you can get there, run system restore and go back a week or so.
