I'm trying to access a drive on another computer.  The share tab is not active on the other computer.

The computer with the attached drive is running Vista.   I;m trying to attach from my windows 7 computer but can only do it in read mode.

I did not find anything that explained why I cannot connect the external drive in write mode.

You'll have to be on an administrator account.

Share for everyone is set up.  I can open the files on attached drive on Vista Machine but they are in read only.

You may need to modify the NTFS permissions of the sharing folder on the Vista machine.
