I have been having a problem with download speeds on my Firefox fluctuating like crazy the past few months. anywhere from 10kb a second to 200kb a second! all in a single download. I am supposed to have a 6MB connection. how do I fix?

Just to clarify, do you mean 6MB (megabyte) or 6Mb (megabit). Most ISPs market their speeds in megabits, so 6MB would actually be 48Mb.

Try to give us as many details as possible.

  • Are you on a wired or wireless connection?
  • How are you connected to the network?
  • Are you experiencing the issue on Internet Explorer/other browsers?
  • Are you experiencing the issue on multiple websites?
  • How frequent are the issues happening? Is it a constant issue or on and off?
  • Have you done an internet speed test? Try going to http://www.speedof.me and do a test. Try the test every time you start experiencing issues.

If you can think of any more specifics please include them!
