Hello, I recently installed ubuntu 14.04. When I use skype or cheese my microphone will not respond. I have tried alot of different suggestions and none of them seem to work. If I could get some assistance that would be awesome, thanks! :afro:

Try this

If you are having problems getting Skype Microphone to work try this.

Open a terminal and use the following command:

sudo apt-get install libasound2-plugins:i386

Restart your computer if needed. You need to install the 32 bit pulse Audio plugin even if you are on 64 bit.

It says; "already newest version...". It's not just skype though. Cheese, even google chrome doesn't find my microphone. I have a Toshiba Satellite C55D-A if that helps you any.
