The GTX 760 does perform better than the R9 270X, but it is also more expensive. What games are you mainly wanting to play? I have an R9 270X and most any games I play at 1080p are on high-ultra settings with no lag.

He said the same thing he had been saying for hours... "burn them all".

Where I am the R9-280 3Gb is priced at about the same level as the GTX 760 at the moment, because of aggressive price drops from AMD.  The R9-280 is a little faster than the GTX760 in most games.  It's a big card and it does use more power though.

I think the R9-270X is perfectly good for games at 1920x1080 though.  Some games favour the AMD card, some the Nvidia.  A comparison of various tests for you.
