Hey,

My Asus K55VD laptop suddenly shut down and after diagnosis a blue screen appeared saying

Recovery....
Error code: 0xc0000185

After I pressed enter to try again, it led me straight to the same screen
After pressing f8, it led me back to the blue screen but this time it says,

The operating system couldn't be loaded because the system registry file is missing or contains errors.

File: \Windows\system32\config\system

Error code: 0xc0000185

Pressing Esc, led me to the Aptio Setup Utility

Can anyone help me with this? I also don't care about what I lose on my computer.
I would also prefer if I didn't have to take apart my computer because knowing me, I'll probably end up making it worse.

If you are not concerned about your data use the System Recovery partition to return the operating system to the condition it came out of the box.

Using the Recovery Partition:  Press [F9] during bootup.

Press [Enter] to select Windows Setup [EMS Enabled].

Read the ASUS Preload Wizard messages and click Next. Select a partition option and click Next.

Partition options: Recover Windows to first partition only. This option deletes only the first partition and allows you to keep other partitions, and to create a new system partition as drive "C" .

Do you have a installation disc for this version of Windows 8?

If you do not, you should call Asus support and see if they will "give" you one since you can't access the System Recovery partition.

With the dis you can do a repair.  When you have this disc I will post instructions for it use.

Nope, my laptop has windows 8 already installed

But thank you, dc3 :)
If this is the only solution then I could probably figure out the rest

There is a repair which can be run, but you will need the installation disc in order to do this.

Is this Windows 8 or 8.1?

What version is it, 32-bit, 64-bit, Home, Home Premium, Pro?
