Hello, I want to use Java to practice programming. I have downloaded it from here:http://www.java.com/en/download/chrome.jsp?locale-=en.

When I tried to open it, there was an error saying that the program cannot run.

What should I do?

I am in Robotics Club in school, so I need to learn the basics of Java as soon as possible! Help!!!

What was the exact wording of the error ?

has there been any other unusual activity on your PC ?

I got rid of the Java with error and downloaded a new one that is in this YouTube Java Tutorial video:

I want to go to a Robotics competition so I want to learn how to code and command things.

I am really amateur at this, so I don't know what to tell you about the language I am learning. I literally have no idea what I am doing right now with Java....

Can someone tell me the difference between C++ and Java?

From what I have read so far, C++ is usually used to make games and Java to do basic programming.

Thanks.

What browser do you use?

I heard that Google Chrome will disable the usage of Java plug-in.

So you may change to use FireFox or other browsers.

Create an account an account with Oracle and Download Java  SE 8u65 from the Oracle website. Both C++ and Java are object-oriented with Java more popular today.

I have programmed in Java  for some years and is  not a great place to start for a beginner as it is totally object oriented, Python is better as it is an easier starting  point. If you really do want to learn to code in Java, try these online tutorials and guides.

http://www.linuxtopia.org/online_books/programming_books/thinking_in_java/index.html  now this version is not current but it still has good learning material

At some point I have recommended these resources to those wanting to learn Java programming.

Have fun!

fyi::: ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ Nice, a Pop UP IN  YOUR  FACE !  java tutor site just above ^ ^ ^ ^

Hmmm an odd pain , its impossible to get by it, probably with most browsers or mine at least and they didn't have the idea of simply putting a bold SIGN UP link
in the header.

Content is probably premium, if you could see it.

What you need is a good book for beginners and a lot of patience. You can't learn programming on the run, writing even simple programs requires some understanding.
