Task Manager Sleep 5

Any reason why terminating or killing "sleep 5" with a PPID 1 would send me to my desktop and close all windows?

Here is another question regarding "task manager".  Is it normal for "syslogd" and inetd" to be using the most CPU when only thing running is "Zenmap"?
