My Dad got a call last week from an "anti-virus" company who had him download some software onto his computer to see if he had any viruses. As soon as he said this, I freaked out and uninstalled the software that he had downloaded. It included PCFixSpeed (which will not uninstall) and several other pieces. The other programs uninstalled, but nothing happens when I try to uninstall PCFix Speed. He now gets frequent pop-ups telling him to back-up his computer, check for spyware, etc. He has also had issues with many programs. For example, Google Chrome would not open any websites, coming up with an error message that the page would not load. I un-installed and re-installed Chrome, and it is working for this time being. The same thing happened with Acrobat Reader. I apologize that I don't have more details of what he installed or what the pop-up messages have been, but I just found out that the issues have persisted past uninstalling the software.
I'm not really sure where to go from here. He definitely has a virus of some kind, as the computer is extremely slow and inconsistent, but I don't know what it is.
Thanks in advance!
