A factory reset should not have "got rid of drivers and plug ins".

Is it a laptop? PC?

If it's a laptop, have you tried turning on the Wifi from the F keys?

Are you using Wifi or Ethernet cable?

All is well in Paradise.

As mentioned above, usually a factory reset through the 'automatic' means (I.E. Recovery disk or partition) would re-install drivers that came bundled with the system originally. So it could just be that the network card (NIC) is disabled. First, make sure the NIC is enabled in "Control Panel > Network and Internet > Network Connections" and if they don't even show up there you probably don't have drivers.

emachine drivers are available here if the card isn't just disabled.

Did you see the network card in "Control Panel > Network and Internet > Network Connections"?

When checking control panel it gives three choices. Network sharing. Home group. Internet options. What do I pick?

Control Panel > Network and Internet > Network and Sharing Center > Change adapter settings (it is on the left panel of that dialog box)

It sounds like that would be your wired LAN connection. Enable it and report back.
