No thats not what i meant. Go to 2shared.com (example) Register for a account. And then upload the minidumps that exist in the folder. If it dosen't allow you turn off UAC(User Account Control). If that dosen't work then make sure you are at the admin's account. And after you uploaded it paste the link on a reply.

The download location (top level) is:

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/install-windows-7-service-pack-1

However, keep in mind, that DEPENDING ON THE COMPUTER MANUFACTURER, the drivers for a Windows 8 computer may not be compatiable with Windows 7.  A friend of mine had an HP Windows 8, and wanted to use Windows 7, but it wasn't possible, because his PC wasn't certified for Windows 7.

You also need to insure that the SP1 is the proper version (32 or 64 bit), AMD, IA, etc, the above link provides you the option for for all available; make sure you read all of it, including the pages it links to.  The dmp file could be because you used the wrong version of the SP.

Have a great day!

  • Go to Piriform's website, and click the big download.png button.
  • Next, click Download from Piriform.com (the FileHippo link requires an extra click). Or if you want to use a portable version of Speccy (which doesn't require installation), click the builds page link and download the portable version.
  • You will now be asked where you want to save the file. The best place to put it is the Desktop, as it will be easy to find later.
  • After the file finishes downloading, you are ready to run Speccy. If you downloaded the installer, simply double-click on it and follow the prompts until installation is complete. If you downloaded the portable version, you will need to unzip it before use. Right-click the ZIP file and click Extract all. Click Next. Open up the extracted folder and double-click on Speccy.
  • Once inside Speccy, it will look similar to this (with your computer's specifications, of course):
    p22004369.gif
  • Now, at the top, click File > Publish Snapshot
  • You will see the following prompt:
    p22004371.gif
  • Click Yes > then Copy to Clipboard
    p22004372.gif
  • Now, once you are back in the forum topic you are posting in, click the p22004370.gif button. Right-click in the empty space of the Reply box and click Paste. Then, click Add Reply below the Reply box.
  • Congrats! You have just posted your specs!

yes I am wondering it that is the case about it not being compatiable but it does have win 7 drivers I installed at the website for gateway.

also, because I was doing the  updates through windows updates I am sure the version of service pk 1 is correct but I will

not try the manual download and install.

I am pretty sure I am getting the BSOD though because of a driver just not sure which one and I cant get it to come up again

yes to write down the error code message. I am sure it will happen again.

I am downloading the win 7 pk 1 now

Forget about 2shared. Just upload it to Onedrive (Formerly know as SkyDrive). And send the link with the minidumps.

Thank for everyone so far for your assistance...if you have other thoughs please post

I have to go out to set up a network and will be back in a few hours.

I am beginning to think the only recourse is to reinstall win 8 unfortunately the hd

crashed and they dont have recovery usb drive or DVDS

I will check back later to see what else to try

Julie
