Hello- I'm a new registrant to this website and these forums-
Part of my job, and a lot of my recreation, entails being online, using the internet as well as my company's intranet.
I am very much of a novice as regards programming, etc. and only know the basics of Windows, etc.
A few days ago, I fell victiim to the Home Search Assistant virus, and frankly was about ready to destroy my laptop. None of the anti-spyware programs I downloaded did anything to solve the problem.
A search led me to this site, where I reviewed and utilized the solutions offered.
It worked. With only a few (minor) losses of icons, etc, I removed this plague.
Sincere thanks to all- the "Hijack This!", author ("Rubber Ducky"?), the creators/moderators of this site who make such tools available to laypeople like myself, and anyone else who has a hand in these efforts.
It was an extremely frustrating time, and a very invasive experience.
This kind of invasion seems to be business-driven, and should be prosecuted legally if possible.
At any rate, thanks to all involved in creating and distributing these solutions.
I admire your intelligence and your principles.
