My motherboard is a ASUS M5A97 R2.0

My GPU is a AMD RX 7700

I have 16gig of ram (2  8's)

Cleared for anything up to a140 watt CPU.

EDIT:  Now, just personal opinion here.  You already have a decent CPU, 95 watt, which for that board without VRM cooling is happy.  I don't know how much additional performance you will get going to an 8 core 125 watt  CPU.  I don't know if you would even notice a difference going to a new CPU.  AMD will be releasing 2 more AM3+ CPUs soon, both new 8 core, one a 95 watt, one a 125 watt.  Might wait a month and see what those two new CPUs will cost.

I am a retired Ford tech. Next to Fords, any computer is a piece of cake. (The cake, its not a lie)

I would probably go with the AMD FX-8120 8-Core Black Edition Processor Socket AM3+ - FD8120FRGUBOX.

All of the FX-8000 series is good, I have the 8150, but I would suggest a Vishera 8300 series CPU, like the AMD FX-8350 Black Edition Vishera 8-Core 4.0GHz
