Mod Edit, Moved from Win8 to Am I Infected ~~ boopme

Hi Everyone;

I am running windows 8.1. There is a program installed on my computer called Websteroids. The uninstall/ change will not remove it. I have malwarebytes ( free version ) and it does not remove it either. I know there are lots of free sites offering removal, but because I do not know what site is legit, I won't download any of them.
I would so appreciate anyone's help in telling me how I can rid my pc of this Websteroids program?

Thanks, and have a great day all.

Look fro and remove Creative Island Media

OR run MBAM first

Download 51a46ae42d560-malwarebytes_anti_malware.MalwareBytes Anti-Malware to your desktop.
  • Double-click mbam-setup-2.0.exe to start the installation of Malwarebytes Anti-Malware.
  • Follow the instructions on your screen to complete the installation. You can find the complete installation procedure here.
  • Click the Scan Now button, a threat scan will start automatically.
  • MalwareBytes Anti-Malware will now check for the latest updates. Click Update Now if new updates are available.
  • Your computer is now being scanned, please do not use your computer during the scan.
  • If no threats were found, click View detailed log.
    • Click Export and save the log as a .txt file on your Desktop or another location.
  • If the scan detected any threats, click Apply Actions.
    • To complete any actions taken you will be prompted to restart your computer...click on Yes.
    • After reboot, start Malwarebytes Anti-Malware again and click the History Tab at the top and select Application Logs.
    • Check the box next to Scan Log. Choose the most current scan and click View.
    • Click Export and save the log as a .txt file on your Desktop or another location.
Providing the MalwareBytes' Anti-Malware log file
  • Attach the log file you just saved to your next reply for further review.

Hi Boopme

Thank you for your response. I did mention in my post that I have malwarebytes (free version) and it will not delete websteroids. I am sure my mbam is up to date. I have gone to creative island as well and no luck there either.

Is there a safe program to install that would take websteriods off?

Your help is very much appreciated.

It sounds like MB removed the actual program but you are left with add-ons/extensions in your browsers.

You should be able to delete and/or remove those from your browsers with ease. Do you know how?

Hi..thanks for the reply. I will go and look at the extensions. Also, MB found 2 Trojans as well as 2 other infections, which were moved successfully. I scanned again and all was clear. I will go look in extensions and get back to you.

Hi again;

Thanks for old the help. I downloaded I think it said aw advanced?  I did the scan and there were a lot of items found with the word websteroids in it, so I deleted them and that went fine. I then did another scan and 2 more websteroid enterys were found so I deleted those. Scanned again and all was clear........HOORAY......websteroids is no longer listed in my programs.

I will also take the advice about watching free websites.

Thanks again

CL
