Another user of this computer is complaining that it is running slower than usual. I can't really tell. Do you see anything in my log?:

Also, I should mention that whenever I open up the Internet Explorer browser after I restart the computer a popup for either "Eurolotto" or "AdultFriendFinder" comes up on another IE window. I would like to get rid of these.

Hi piano and Welcome to the Bleeping Computer!

Click Start-> Run-> Type in Services.msc and Click OK

Scroll that list and locate this entry

Microsoft Logon User Interface Skining<-- Match the Name exactly as I have it listed!

Right Click that entry and Select Properties-> Click Stop-> Go up and change the Startup Type to Disabled

Click Apply-> OK and Exit the Services Page

Open HijackThis-> Click "Do a System Scan Only" and put a check by these but DO NOT hit the Fix Checked button yet

Now Make sure ALL WINDOWS and BROWSERS are CLOSED and hit the Fix Checked Button

Please download the Killbox by Option^Explicit.

Note: In the event you already have Killbox, this is a new version that I need you to download.
  • Save it to your desktop.
  • Please double-click Killbox.exe to run it.
  • Please copy the file paths below to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose copy):


  • Return to Killbox, go to the File menu, and choose Paste from Clipboard.
  • Select Delete on Reboot and Unregister .dll before Deleting
  • then Click on the All Files button.
  • Click the red-and-white Delete File button. Click Yes at the Delete on Reboot prompt. Click OK at any PendingFileRenameOperations prompt (and please let me know if you receive this message!).
If your computer does not restart automatically, please restart it manually.

If you receive a message such as: "Component 'MsComCtl.ocx' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid." when trying to run Killbox, click here to download and run missingfilesetup.exe. Then try Killbox again.

Reboot into SAFE MODE(Tap F8 when restarting)

Click Start-> Run-> Copy&Paste the bold text below into the Open Box and Click OK

sc delete LogonUInterf

Restart Normal and Download Dr.Web CureIt to the desktop:
  • Doubleclick the drweb-cureit.exe file and Allow to run the express scan
  • This will scan the files currently running in memory and when something is found, click the yes button when it asks you if you want to cure it. This is only a short scan.
  • Once the short scan has finished, mark the drives that you want to scan.
  • Select all drives. A red dot shows which drives have been chosen.
  • Click the green arrow at the right, and the scan will start.
  • Click 'Yes to all' if it asks if you want to cure/move the file.
  • When the scan has finished, in the menu, click file and choose save report list
  • Save the report to your desktop. The report will be called DrWeb.csv
  • Close Dr.Web Cureit.
Post back with a fresh HijackThis log and the report from DrWebs CureIt
