Hello,

I have an Asus running windows 8. I am unable to refresh or restore my PC, it tells me a partition is missing. Doesn't anyone know how I can fix this. I have completely computer illiterate so I have no idea where to start.

Also I checked diskmgmt in the cmd prompt and it shows that the recovery partition is there and healthy.

Did you create a recovery DVD or USB drive when you first got your computer? If not, you should be able to contact ASUS support and ask them to send you a recovery disk for your computer. They may or may not charge you a fee. You will be able to run the Windows 8 "Refresh" from the recovery disk.

You'll want to fix the recovery partition though, and I'm not sure if the recovery disk can/will fix the recovery partition (without having to factory reset the WHOLE drive). Hopefully someone else here can provide some insight on that.

I don't mind factory resting the entire drive. Everything I need is backed up. I did not create a recovery disk or USB because I didn't know there was a need for that. I can contact ASUS as the PC is only a few months old and still under warranty.

Thanks.
