Hope someone can help.

I thought I'd change my start up menu so not so many programs opened at start up. Thinking this would be easy I just stopped a few programs that I thought would speed up my start up. I did that thinking that it was easy!!

Now I have lost all programs and internet connection from the laptop and can't do anything with it.

Questions: Do I need to do something easy to bring it back (I tried system restore ) It doesn't have anything I can find to restore it to.

Question: Would I need to reload windows 7? or can I do it an easier way.

Try going back and re-enabling everything you disabled: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/758.disable-and-enable-windows-7-startup-programs.aspx

Navigate to the Windows folder, then the System32 folder, and see if msconfig.exe is there. If so, try clicking on it.

If that doesn't work, can you open a command prompt? In the search bar, type in cmd. When the command prompt window icon appears, right click it and select Run as administrator. The, type in c:\Windows\System32\msconfig.exe and hit Enter.

If msconfig.exe is not in the System32 folder or you can't get it to run, you'll have to do an in-place upgrade. You will need a DVD of the Windows 7 version you have installed. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2255099

Roll it back to one day before you made the changes.

Hi sflatechguy,

By showing me how to get to system 32 and msconfig.exe I was able to get it back online. Thank you very much.

However I'm just wondering how to close up some of the programs that I don't want opening at start up and which ones not to touch.

if you post your list of autostart entries,we may able to tell which one you can disable safely

Ok Thanks,

How do I copy into here all of what opens up.

I just found a way to close up some of the programs like Skype and Kies that I don't have any more but see it's still opening in the system.

Check your startup folder, which should be listed under Start>Programs. Also what's listed in msconfig.

In Start > Programs There is Bluetooth/ OneNote2007/ Scannerfinder

That is what is in the start up now.

I thing what is left should stay there. But not sure how to copy and send it otherwise it's a tedious job of one by one typing them out for you.

Yes, that can stay. Follow Amythyr's suggestion and upload screenshots of what's in msconfig. No need to link them, just upload them directly.

Thought it easier to just copy them down rather than try and find out other way. This is what I have left on my start up
