I've been a long-time lurker here and am finally taking a few to finally join your community. I first discovered this site through NewEgg.com and have had it bookmarked for quite a while... good stuff.
About me: I'm a moderately experienced computer user who grew up using DOS and Windows 3.1. My first experience with the Internet occurred when I was 9-years-old, but it was through the Prodigy network. Eventually I began using local BBS's instead because they were free and my parents didn't care. Eventually my dad got AOL when it began its 19.95/month (regardless of usage) price, and I've been online ever since.
As for my experience with the technical know-how of computers, well, I grew up with DOS, like I said. Using DOS and the earliest versions of Windows meant I had to learn how to diagnose, troubleshoot, and correct problems. Because of all the years I've spent learning and relearning computers, I consider myself
moderately proficient at all things computer-tech. I'm the guy my friends call when they want to upgrade their machines or when something goes wrong, for instance, and I'm proud to say I usually do a pretty darn-good job helping them.
Anyway, I seem to be rambling so I'll stop now. I look forward to participating on these forums as much as possible by sharing my experience and benefiting from yours. Thanks!
