I have a PC running Windows 7 that I use to download movies and TV shows.

I have a TV in the living room connected through a Denon receiver for surround sound.

Currently I:  download the movie -> copy to USB stick -> put USB stick in Xbox 360 -> play content off USB stick.

The Xbox doesnt play .mkv which a lot of movies seem to be.

Is there a better way to watch downloaded movies on my TV? I also have an Apple TV if that makes a difference.

I am also not opposed to buying another device if it works better.

So as long as the computer and the 360 are connected to the same network you should be able to share the videos and play them with windows media player on the 360... BUT this is extraordinarily difficult sometimes, I have never been successful in this endeavor. Once you get it working its great though.

You may be able to stream from the computer to the Apple TV via some media player, but im not sure.
