Hi
nothing too serious but when I open MS Word on an XP machine I get a Microsoft Visual Basic pop-up saying "Runtime error 52: Bad File name or number". I click END and it goes no problem but it's just annoying. I would be grateful for any help.
TIA
Mike

Hello Hoopoe
There is an article here which may help with your problem.
Here is an extract from it-

Error 52 -Bad file name or number- Program error, verify the program has all the latest updates. If updated try reinstalling the program. If you continue to have the same errors contact the software developer.

Hope this helps,
Charles

Thanks Charles, trouble is with most PCs now the Software comes preinstalled with no discs, but I think I can get a set from work.

Hi Mike,
Post back with any results, regardless of whether or not it worked, as I believe there are some other ways of dealing with this problem if we are unsuccessful.
Thanks,
Charles

When you're opening Word, it is attempting to run a macro.
A re-install may or may not fix it.
See Beth Melton's post.
It is very thorough in locating the cause of the problem.

HitSquad this post solved my problem. Charles thank you also.

I found a MYOB97 (Mind Your Own Business) template, once deleted everything fine.

Many Thanks both
Mike
