My laptop has an unusual problem.

It all started when it wouldnt charge at all. I replaced the Battery, the Charger and the charging socket on the lappy.

It still wont charge, but if I leave it for a few hours, the charging light on the laptop comes on and stays on like it should.

The battery charges lovely but If I disconnect the charger and then plug it back in again later or the next day, NO CHARGE again unless I leave it for a few hours!

To clarify -

I replaced the Charging Socket

I replaced the Battery

I replaced the Charger.

Any help is appriciated :)

Hi, would you mind sharing why you had to change the battery, charger and socket?

First, I would like to clarify the issue. As I understand it, you have charged the battery, for later use. But when you have to use it, the charge is depleted already without you using it. Is that correct? Then there is also the issue that requires you to wait for the laptop (plugged) for a while before the charging light comes on. Am I missing something?

The battery does not deplete. The only issue is that the laptop has to be plugged in for a few hours before the charging light comes on. Even with the battery out the machine.

If that's the case, then it has nothing to do with your battery nor your charger, but I guess you already knew that...

Anyhow, I suggest you get the PSU of your laptop checked by a specialist. I can only think that It might has a broken capacitor somewhere. Nothing else could have contributed to the issue that you mentioned as softwares are way out of the equation here.

I will discourage you to do this by yourself as electrical issue is a serious matter, so unless you really know what you are doing, it might be better to leave it to the pros.

Hope that helps.

Yeah I gathered it was a Motherboard issue.

Thanks anyway :)
