Hi crazzyms and Welcome to the Bleeping Computer!

If you will, please navigate to the Upload Site

Upload the file listed below

C:\WINDOWS\aolsnc.exe

Download GMER from Here

Right Click the Zip and Select "Extract All"

Double Click gmer.exe to launch the program.

Click on the Rootkit Tab and then click Scan.

It takes a while to run, once complete, copy the results to notepad and save them somewhere safe.

Post those results in the next reply.

Download WinPFind to your C Drive.
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/files/winpfind.php

Right Click the Zip Folder and Select "Extract All"

Don't use it yet

Reboot into SAFE MODE(Tap F8 when restarting)
Here is a link on how to boot into Safe Mode:
http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/tsgen...src=sec_doc_nam

From the WinPFind folder-> Doubleclick WinPFind.exe and Click "Start Scan"

It will scan the entire System, so please be patient

Once you see "Scan Complete"-> a log (WinPFind.txt) will be automatically generated in the WinPFind folder

Post back with the reports from gmer and WinPFind.

That was the prefetch file,I have a program you can use to extract a copy of the file with in Safe Mode.

Download this program:

Submit Files Packer
http://www.safer-networking.org/files/sfp.zip

Highlight the entries listed below in bold and right-click,then select Copy.

C:\WINDOWS\aolsnc.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\rofl.sys
C:\WINDOWS\System32\msdirect.sys

Restart in Safe Mode

Then start the file packer program and right click in the white box and select paste to paste the copied file names in the field.

Then press the Continue button.

It will create an archive with these files and a small log on your Desktop that starts with a name like requested-file[date].cab.

Restart Normal and Submit that cab file to the upload site and lets see what we see!

Thats a Spybot worm for sure, sent my AV crazy!

Please download the Killbox by Option^Explicit.

Note: In the event you already have Killbox, this is a new version that I need you to download.
  • Save it to your desktop.
  • Please double-click Killbox.exe to run it.
  • Please copy the file paths below to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose copy):

    C:\WINDOWS\aolsnc.exe

  • Return to Killbox, go to the File menu, and choose Paste from Clipboard.
  • Select Delete on Reboot
  • then Click on the All Files button.
  • Click the red-and-white Delete File button. Click Yes at the Delete on Reboot prompt. Click OK at any PendingFileRenameOperations prompt (and please let me know if you receive this message!).
If your computer does not restart automatically, please restart it manually.

If you receive a message such as: "Component 'MsComCtl.ocx' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid." when trying to run Killbox, click here to download and run missingfilesetup.exe. Then try Killbox again.

Restart in Safe Mode and Scan again with WinPFind.

Restart Normal and post a fresh HijackThis log along with the WinPFind results.

I didn't revieve any error messages when I ran the killbox, however my computer didn't want to reboot. One time it said operating system not found. here are my new scans.

WARNING: not all files found by this scanner are bad. Consult with a knowledgable person before proceeding.

If you see a message in the titlebar saying "Not responding..." you can ignore it. Windows somethimes displays this message due to the high volume of disk I/O. As long as the hard disk light is flashing, the program is still working properly.

C:\PROGRA~1\ZONELA~1\ZONEAL~1\MAILFR~1\mantispm.exe

Is that the new process you spoke of?

http://www.liutilities.com/products/wintas...brary/mantispm/

Reboot again and see if you dont get a different new process?

Every thing seems to be running fine now. I deleted the file aolsnc and rebooted and this time its gone. I am running a full virus scan now, but so far so good. Is there anything else that I need to do? Thank you so much, I would have been totaly at a loss without you.

We still have some things to do in order to reverse some of the changes that the worm made!

Open HijackThis-> Click "Do a System Scan Only" and put a check by these but DO NOT hit the Fix Checked button yet

O23 - Service: File Searching (Quick File Search) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\aolsnc.exe (file missing)

Now Make sure ALL WINDOWS and BROWSERS are CLOSED and hit the Fix Checked Button

Click Start-> Run-> Copy&Paste the bold text below into the Open Box and Click OK

sc delete Quick File Search

Let me see a HijackThis Start Up log.

Open HijackThis and Click the "Open Misc Tools Section" tab.

Select Generate StartUpList log and make sure that both Boxes beside it are checked:

Put a check by:
List all minor sections(Full)
and
List Empty Sections(Complete)

It will produce a NotePad Page,I need you to copy the entire contents of that page to the next reply.
