Netgear n600 dual band adapter disconnecting

Hey I recently bought a Net gear n600 Dual band usb adapter and it runs fine until I download something and then it disconnects within minutes and I have to reset the internet for it to come back on, any ideas? Windows 8.1 operating system.

How far away is your computer from the router? Could be a weak signal caused by interference.

not that far at all, use to work fine on old adapter + I have a Wifi booster so getting full signal.

DId the USB adapter come with a CD? Did you install the driver from the CD? If not, do that. If you did install the drivers, try reinstalling them.

What kind of router do you have? Is anyone else connected to the router and using the Internet when this problem occurs?
