I need help removing those arrows that are now on my desktop icons, my system is windows 8.1. Thanks in advance for your help. Willie T.

You can use this registry hack here.  It works on Windows 8.1 too.  However, if you're not up to hacking the registry you can use a free program named Windows Shortcut Arrow Editor.
