I have installed a Crucial m500 240 gb on an Asus P8h61-M Pro using a fresh XP install in ide mode on the sata II port ( the sata III port would not be  recognised by the installer )

I tried to update the IDE driver to AHCI within windows from the device manager using the drivers provided by the intel website but got an instant blue screen. There was quite alot of driver options to pick from, I think I picked ICH10DO.

My AS SSD score is in the mid 200s and the system boot time is unchanged from the HD - 45 to 60 seconds.

I did align the partition before installing and created an aligned partition of 87.9 for the OS.

How much performance improvement should AHCI yield?

Any ideas folks?
