I have an issue with my 8.1 windows HP pavilion desktop.   When logged into the standard user account automatic updates is turned off and under power options settings it is set to never put the computer to sleep.    I will change the setting back to their defaults which works but when i restart and log in the settings revert back to their non default status. This only happens on the standard user account, the Admin account settings work fine.

Troubleshooting done so far:

sfc /scannow- no corruption found

ran multiple antivirus scans with nothing found

Any help would be appreciated!

Is this user account an administrator account?

No it's a standard user account .  I use UAC to elevated privilege, then adjust settings back to their defaults but when i restart and log in the standard user account the settings revert back to their non default status.  When i log in as admin the setting are set correctly and there is no problem.

Make the changes using the administrator account and see if the changes stay.

Can you try to create a new user non-administrator account and check if you will experience the same issues.

If you are going to create another user account I would suggest that you make another Administrator account.  You will want to have the permissions this provides.
