unable to update java "browserlauncherror 1"

every time I try to update java on my Windows XP eMachine computer. it always errors out as "browserlauncherror 1" no matter how many times I try to install or update java.


Googling "browserlauncherror 1" resulted in nothing but spam

Try to remove Java completely using JavaRa, click Update JavaRa Definitions and them click Remove JRE next follow the instructions available here.


Restart the computer and try to install the lasted java using the following link
