Monkey shot. Wikimedia says the monkey owns the copyright to this image because it took the photo. But the owner of camera, David Slater, disagrees. He says the copyright belongs to him and he’s planning to take legal action over it. Source: Supplied

THE world’s best monkey selfie spread across the internet in the summer of 2011, bringing smiles to the faces of children and adults worldwide.

It is unlikely that the star of the photograph, a female crested black macaque, realised that she would whip up a copyright infringement row three years on.
