I am sick and tired of this computer, I have had nothing but problems with it.

I have an HP Pavilion p7-1534 running Windows 8.1.

I tried to enter a game disc into the drive, but when I ran the game, it said "No CD/DVD-ROM drive found." I thought this was maybe a disc problem because this disc is quite old, but I put in a newer disc and got a similar message. Then, I looked in This PC and saw there was no DVD drive listed.

I followed the steps from: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314060

Resolution 1 was "Unable to fix my problem", Resolution 2 said that it fixed something, but the problem still persists. Resolution 3 wouldn't let me delete the registry key. I couldn't find the driver on HP's website to reinstall, but I checked in Device Manager and it said everything was up to date. I have not tried Resolution 5 (the last one) yet because I don't like tampering with the registry.

Does anybody have any advice? Thanks in advance.

Thank you for the link. I have no idea what I did, but the drive is now being recognized. Thank you for your time.
