I had a note from Java when opening up today about files being out of date so I clicked 'Update'.

Almost immediately my Kaspersky warning guard clicked up 'Trojan Win32.Buzus.qkio'

I clicked 'find source' and the following appeared ' c:\usuers\user\downloads\java_setup.exe.

Does this mean that Java is infected at source, and/or is this a dangerous Troan?

Info would be appreciated

Popups telling you that programs such as Flash and Java need updating should be ignored as they are most likely

not legit.

Best to delete the file that was downloaded and hopefully Kaspersky either did that for you or quarantined the file

before it could set its hooks.

Best practice for updating Java is to check for updates through the control panel listing for Java. Actually, if you

don't need Java, as most don't, uninstall Java or at least disable its plugin(s) in your browser(s). Once disabled, if

you do happen to need it enabled the website will alert you that you need to enable Java to play a game or whatever.

Run CCleaner to clean up temporary files, caches, ad cookies, etc. Use the default settings. Pay close attention while

installing and UNcheck any offers of toolbars. No need to use the Registry Cleaning Tool and it has the potential to cause problems.

Scan using AdwCleaner Download

download AdwCleaner by Xplode onto your desktop.
Close all open programs and internet browsers.
Double click on adwcleaner.exe to run the tool.
Click on Delete.
Confirm each time with Ok.
You will be prompted to restart your computer. A text file will open after the restart.
Please post the contents of that logfile with your next reply.
You can find the logfile at C:\AdwCleaner[S1].txt as well.
