I am looking for a program I once had, but I don't know the name of it.  It's not a virtual disk, it does not require OracleBox, and it does not require Virtual PC.  I already have those.

This particular program is an application that does run within Windows 7, but it's function is more like a portable program and not a virtual machine.

What is the program?

Hello,

I think you are looking for Mini-XP or Win-PE.

Sorry.  It is not Mini-XP or Win-PE.  I have those also.  The one I'm looking for does not boot.  It's completely standalone, and all system files are in it's application folder somewhat like a Wine installation, except in Windows, not Linux.

It's possible that's where I got it.  It's been about 3 years since I had this program.  I don't see anything in the list of apps on portableapps.com that look like they could be it.

Essentially, the functionality is the same as Virtual PC: Windows XP Mode; however, the program I'm looking for resides in a series of system folders in portable format much like AVG PC Tuneup 2011 Portable, or Star Craft Portable.  What I'm looking for does not reside within a .hdd or .vid, etc.  It is not independently bootable and would be worthless on a bootable cd/dvd since it's files require write access.  I'm sorry, I don't know that I can be of much more help.

That could be it.  I found "MicroXP" running in QEMU.  Will update in a few minutes.  If this is it, it's packaged by somebody else with a different name...

My antivirus didn't like that. After cleaning, there wasn't enough to install. Lol
