when copying files from my smartphone to my laptop via USB, it pops up a box that says, Copying To:C:/Users/myusername..../{00000057-0001-0001-0000-000000000000}

is that a registry address its copying to, code for the harddrive, or coding the video to play on Windows Media Player?.....I does play the video

It's not a registry location those are typically stored in C:\Windows\System32\Config

My money would be on it being a temp file that will be renamed once the entire file or folder is moved to the pc.

C:\Users\ . . .\ etc is an address in your User's folder, and the last bit - the long string of numbers - is the file name allocated to it.

It is also probably putting a link into the 'My videos' folder which is why you are able to find and play it. If you don't want the file stored in Users but would prefer some other location I would expect you to be offered a choice when you start the connection / downloading process.
