My budget for the new computer is:

615$ if it's somewhere in EU, lower if somewhere else since shipping and taxes will cost a lot

What are the primary uses for this computer (IE: mail, web browsing, programming, games, etc)?

Taking notes, writing seminars, making presentations... Watching HD movies and some very causal gaming (eg FTL, web games, older games...). I have a dedicated gaming PC at home so this would be just to kill time during long breaks.

What software do you intend on using on the computer?

MS Office (or the like), video players, a web browser (probably Firefox), non intensive games

Do you tend to have a lot of programs running at the same time, or do you close every program when you are done using it?

I want to be able to browse and keep an office application open at the same time with no performance issues.

Do you store a lot of pictures or music on the computer?

I'm looking for 500GB non SSD at least. I could work with a smaller SSD.

Other important things for me:

Battery life - I don't know what's the average but the longer the better
Ergonomics - comfortable keyboard, good cooling (so it doesn't feel like my hands are on a frying pan) and low weight (very important)
Touchscreen - I'd like one if it doesn't hike up the price too much
Misc - Wi-Fi, good viewing angle, HDMI port

I'm also willing to buy used (best over ebay since they have international delivery) if that will get me better performance.

Thank you for all the help.
