Can I use Windows Remote Desktop to access an xp3 desktop (as host) with my W8 tablet (client)?  I have a home network working, which is what I want to use.  I think I have all the required settings right, but the W8 pathway for RD is so obscure, and the interface so opaque, right now I can't even find it.    So I would have that problem even if the host was also W8. Before I spend/waste any more time on this, is it doable? Thanks for any . . .

Yes, you can. From a surface or other tablet running windows 8 you can absolutely connect to a PC via remote remote desktop. Works quite nicely in fact

All versions of Windows 8 can connect to a Remote Desktop Host but the Core and RT versions can not Host a Remote Desktop Connection so if you are attempting to connect to a Windows 8 tablet that has RT on it then you may need to search the Microsoft Store for an application that will fulfill your needs.
