Hello everyone, I'm new to this forum (so please excuse any mistakes I make). I bought a used Gateway NV55C laptop with an intel pentium processor and 4 gb of ram running Windows 7. At random intervals when using the computer I get a blue screen stop error with the error code 0x0000001e, followed by 0x000000. I thought it was a hard drive issue so I tried a different hard drive, but it kept happening. I also tried reinstalling windows. I believe this is a driver issue but I'm not sure. Please help! If I need to post dump files then let me know. (like I said, I'm new to the forum) Thanks in advance!

So I looked at my dump files, and all of the crashes have involved ntoskrnl.exe. I have no idea how to uninstall that driver

Well...I see a number of different STOP codes, which I interpret as something that is beyond the O/S.

Description: : The embedded controller (EC) did not respond within the specified timeout period. This may indicate that there is an error in the EC hardware or firmware or that the BIOS is accessing the EC incorrectly. You should check with your computer manufacturer for an upgraded BIOS. In some situations, this error may cause the computer to function incorrectly.

Moved to Internal Hardware for review.

I'll check for a bios update and post back with results.
