HPPav-HPE, cpu cooling fan runs fast but will shut down in sleep mode

My cpu cooling fan continues to run fast but will shut down in sleep mode.  I unplugged and replugged(ok) I blew dust out but still no change, help

Hello and Welcome,

In BIOS look for something called Power Management. See if your ACPI sleep setting is set to S1 and not S3.

This is greek to me, When I put it in sleep mode, it does shutdown the fan

You need to access your BIOS before boot. If you are not comfortable doing this, have somebody with computers access the BIOS and look through it to see if Power Managment is available.

 

I believe on the HP you tap the Esc key at boot and then F10 to enter BIOS.
