I'm trying to install AirPrint for Windows on a HP desktop with a Win7/64-bit OS. Every time I attempt, I get the error: "AirPrint Installer has stopped working", Then I get a Windows Compatibility error asking to try again. Not finding a solution. I've loaded the setup file on another computer and it loads properly. But... it has to loaded on the computer with the printer attached.

Any thoughts? Need to fix this tonight! Trying to help out my son and I'm leaving in the morning!!!

Hi,

What is the OS on the system where it's loading correctly? Have you tried setting up compatibility mode on the w7x64 system to see if that will overcome the problem?

The installation .exe has been used on a Win8/64-bit laptop and a Win7/64-bit desktop without any issue.

I've tried running using compatibility mode, but still not successful.

Are all of the components of the HP up to date? OS, drivers, etc.?

I've already checked Windows updates and everything else appears to be correct.

Are you able to install any printers on the HP?

Not sure how this information would be helpful?

I already have installed the Brother HL-2280DW printer on the HP desktop.

It works without any errors.

I have shared the printer and another computer on the network can access it as a shared device.

The error occurs when attempting to load the AirPrint installation.

This has nothing to do with the loading of the printer or any other additional devices.

Airprint is an app for HP printers, from what I'm reading on their site. It's so that apple devices can print. If there's no HP printer visible to the computer then it just might no load. All guess work on my part

HP ePrint is an app for HP Printers, but I'm not using that.

Currently tried this:

http://www.airprintactivation.com/

Which worked and I now see the printer on my iPad.

But when I try to use it, it prompts for User Name and Password.

In the advanced sharing options I have:

Turn on network discovery

Turn on file and printer sharing

Turn on Public folder sharing

Turn off password protected sharing

The user account on the desktop does not have a password and when I look at all the user accounts, there is only the main user and the Guest account.

I'm not loading/installing/updating anything on an Apple 'device'

I'm trying to load a Windows application on a Windows computer.

The install error was a Windows error

The sharing error is a Windows error.

Yes, I'm using an Apple 'device' to view the shared printers from the Windows computer.

But, if you looked at the link I submitted, it's "How to Enable AirPrint for Windows"

Don't worry, I'm sure someone will pitch in and provide the information that I need.

If above doesn't work for you, I would try program support with your issue.
