USB error

hello my usb dirve is not recognized and needs to be formatted. If I format it will erase all of my files. What can I do

There are some software tools you can use to try and recover data even while the drive says it needs to be formatted. The ones that I use the most are Get Data Back (paid for software), Recuva (free the last time I used it), RStudio (paid for), and TestDisk/PhotoRec (free).


Some are easier to use than others, there are instructions for all the software on youtube.
