I was having a problem with the whole operating system freezing up randomly on an Inspiron 1525 so I shut down my computer and left it off for 5 minutes because it was making my entire laptop burn up. when I started up, it brought me to some "windows boot manager" screen asking me to make boot options. I have never seen that screen before. upon logging onto Windows. I noticed the freezing and burning up is still there. but in addition, every time a window or a program is minimized, (incl. taskbar items), it freezes itself. and I have to kill it in task manager. everything from notepad to Firefox, to Windows Explorer everything freezes when minimized. I cannot even install a java update because it is frozen in the taskbar.

I googled the problem relating to freeze when minimized, as well as "java update frozen in taskbar" but it didn't yield anything relevant

Might be a good idea to clean the inside of your machine. :)

Also how does the machine perform in safe mode?
