For the past two days When I log-on (to the PC I get the following message:

Quote:
Register Class Objects failed: hRes= 0x800706BA

The RPC server is unavailable. Maximum retry attempts exceeded.

After being on a few minutes I usually get the following message

Quote:
The system is shutting down. Please save all work in progress and log off. Any unsaved work will be lost.
The shutdown was initiated by NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM.

I google the problem but spammy results keep coming up

Held out to be an error caused by damaged system files.

Suggestion to try using System Restore and restore to an earilier point.

I would run the sfc /scannow command myself, since that's the basic cure for damaged/missing system files.
