I installed windows, lost emails in outlook, and files in hard drive. What program of bleepingcomputer.com would be best to use to restore

files? Sony Vaio laptop.

Try Easeus Partition Recovery, as I've heard good things about it in the past. Here's the link: http://www.easeus.com/partition-recovery/

MiniTool Partition looks fairly good too, and it's free for up to 1GB of recovered data: http://www.minitool.ca

I would try Recuva, as a first step.

Recuva - Undelete, Unerase, File and Disk Recovery - Free Download - http://www.piriform.com/recuva

I can personaly attest to the easeus partition recovery software. My dad purchase easeus data recovery several years ago to rescue a formatted USB flash drive and Introduced me to the software I have since upgraded to the Pro with bootable media. I have had success with all types of flash storage, digital camera internal storage, single Hard drives and 2 raid setups. lastly it's free for up to 2gb of data
