2in black strip around the edge of my screen

my old dell laptop has a 2in black space around the edge of the screen. needless to say I cant do anything with now can someone explain if there is anything that I can do to fix the problem. system restore doesn't work   thx

Try uninstalling your current video drivers...then reinstalling same.
