The 0xc0000005 bugcheck error could mean a number of things, from installation errors, to already having an older version installed, to errors in memory or the registry. Basically this error occurs when a program, in this case the Skype installation, attempts to access memory that it shouldn't.

In addition, a kernel driver, ks.sys, is causing part of the issue, which means there could be some corrupt system files.

First, check to make sure you don't already have an older version of Skype installed, or that there aren't any residual files/registry settings still on your system. If there aren't, suggested fixes are running a memory diagnostic, either Windows Memory Diagnostic Tool (http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Diagnosing-memory-problems-on-your-computer) or memtest86+ (www.memtest.org), and running checkdisk. Open a command prompt window by typing cmd in the search bar, right click the icon and click Run as administrator. Type in chkdsk /f /r. If you have more than one hard drive installed, you'll need to add the drive name of the main drive, such as c:, after the /r switch.

If those fail to fix the issue, you'll have to check your drivers. Review the full memory dump to see what drivers are listed, and replace those that are.
