junkware removal tool strange issue

hi, i use windows 8 and i recently downloaded and ran the junkware removal tool from cnet and after it completed the scan and fixed any issues i noticed that it changed my homepage in IE to google.com previously my IE was set to msn.com as i dont use IE and have chrome set as my default browser is this normal

Cnet adds junkware to its downloads, it can be avoided if you watch carefully.  Always use "advanced" when available, the added junkware is how these sites make money.  You have to be very careful these days!

Uninstall the Junkware Tool.

Next time download from either the home site or from here: Junkware Removal Tool Download

 

Use AdwCleaner to get rid of whatever adware Cnet dropped on you.

  • download AdwCleaner by Xplode onto your desktop.
    Close all open programs and internet browsers.
    Double click on adwcleaner.exe to run the tool.
    Click on Delete.
    Confirm each time with Ok.
    You will be prompted to restart your computer. A text file will open after the restart.
    Please post the contents of that logfile with your next reply.
    You can find the logfile at C:\AdwCleaner[S1].txt as well.
