Laptop is Best Buy purchased stock model:

HP Pavilion g-7 2235 dx laptop

Windows 8 64 bit

AMD A8-4500 w/ Radeon HD Graphics   1.9 GHz

4 Gig Memory

Radeon HD 7640G graphics

DX 11

640 Gig Storage

Network: 10/100BASE-T Ethernet LAN (RJ-45 connector)

Wireless Connectivity: 802.11b/g/n WLAN

Sound: Altec Lansing dual speakers with Dolby Advanced Audio

Comodo Internet Security

Computer can update new windows downloads, but when I open any browser, i.e.; IE, FireFox, Chrome, I receive same info::  "Unable to connect to Internet".

I have updated all browsers via flash drive, Windows 8 is  up to date, drivers to Qualcomm are updated and current.  Basically, all drivers and software that requires updates, I have performed.  I have 'uninstalled' browsers, re-installed.

One peculiar bit of info is when performing the troubleshoot for internet connections, I receive 'Network Cable not properly plugged in or may be broken' notice.  I removed the bottom cover, visually inspected connections, carefully unplugged modem, gently blow out any debris and re-connected.  Still receive same notice.

I have checked my Firewall settings, everything is on proper settings to connect to wifi.  Wifi settings to my Belkin are correct and connected.  Just no internet connection.

Rather baffling and annoying.  Any suggestions?

Hi,

I'm assuming a PS->Router->Internet connection sequence

What is your DNS server setting? Could that be filtering your Internet connections as being [blocked due to content]?

The other thing to check is the NIC settings. With the router doing the heavy lifting it should be set for 'automatic' all the way.

Keep us posted

When I have the HP on it does connect to my Belkin but still will not allow internet connection via browsers.  Updated Belkin firmware to latest version.

Automatic detections are all on, none set to any proxy.

Access the gateway and give it the OpenDNS servers.

http://www.opendns.com/home-internet-security/opendns-ip-addresses/

Here is a guide for doing it on the gateway.or computer

If possible replace the cables. If that does not work, uninstall Comodo.

So sorry for not replying.  I have not been able to try your workaround yet but plan to today, Sunday 7-13.  Work has me running in circles.

" Work has me running in circles."

Does that mean that you are a big wheel?  :hysterical:

wow, okay...still unable to connect to the internet after DNS settings and flush...deleted COMODO anti-virus.  Rebooted a couple times and still  unable to connect.  Router is working since I'm on my desktop explaining my situation currently so don't know how other sites say it could be that.

As I look at 'Network and Sharing Center' on wifes' laptop, it sais "HomeGroup" Joined   and "Connections"  Wi-Fi (belkin.a43)

Could it be her laptop got too hot and fried something on her internal modem/wi-fi?

Still at a loss.
