I have a separate number pad connected to my computer and want to be able to type on it while on another application.

Ex. able to type on an excel spread sheet while looking at the internet.(types in the background)

this is not the actual purpose im looking to implement it for but its essentially what im looking to do.

Thank you in advance.

Maybe you could get a tablet and use one app on it while doing the other on the computer.  I bought a really nice 7" Google Nexus Android tablet for $180 a few months ago, and I see you can get Asus 10" ones for that price today.  If you get one with bluetooth, you can even use a standard sized bluetooth keyboard with it.

Good luck.

Everyone with a computer should back his system up to an external hard drive regularly.
